The first Black sheriff of Gwinnett County says his agency is one of the best agencies in the world and he will use his platform and agency to address crime, provide resources and make changes to build stronger relationships with residents of Georgia’s second-largest county.
“I can use this agency in a better way,” said Sheriff Keybo Taylor. “How we can come back out here and reconnect and try to rebuild trust out here in the community, where, you know, there’s a lot of distrust, especially in the Black and brown community.”
Taylor, a veteran law enforcement officer who retired from the Gwinnett County Police Department in 2009, took over as sheriff and leader of the Gwinnett County Jail in January.
