Decrease in daily new cases of infection - ARAB TIMES

Messenger KUWAIT CITY, May 13: Kuwait’s Ministry of Health has announced recording 1,059 new coronavirus infections and 5 related deaths in the past 24 hours. The new figures take the total cases in the country up to 289,243 and deaths to 1,674 respectively, noted the ministry’s spokesman Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad in statements to KUNA on Thursday. He pointed out that some 1,265 more people had been cured of the virus over the past day, raising the total of those who have overcome the disease to 274,554. He added that the number of people hospitalized with the virus currently stands at 13,015, with 197 of them in intensive care units. (KUNA)

According to reliable health sources, the ministry received an offer some time ago for the supply of medical devices that can produce COVID-19 test results within 20 to 30 seconds after conducting swab tests on those coming into the country. This test is carried out using an innovative, easy-to-use device that requires only one trained person to operate it. Each device can carry out hundreds of tests per day and achieve accurate results of up to 98 percent. It is among the proposed solutions for Gulf health systems especially with the upcoming reopening of the airports in some Arabian Gulf states.
