Priced from 17,999 yuan ($2,784) in China, Mate X2 features an inward-folding display and is powered by Huawei s in-house-designed Kirin 9000 5G chips. It was not immediately clear how much stock Huawei has for the new high-end foldable smartphone, as it is grappling with a shortage of chips due to Washington s restrictions. But the premium phone still showcases the result of Huawei s years of pioneering research efforts. Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei s consumer business group, said the Mate X2 has a combination of cutting-edge hardware, innovative interaction and a thriving software application ecosystem.
