It’s an exciting time for Wear OS – Google’s smartwatch operating system is getting overhauled, with a new version that’s been made in collaboration with Samsung set to land later this year.
We don’t know all the details yet, but from what we’ve heard so far it could be a big improvement, offering better performance and battery life while melding the best bits of Tizen and Wear OS of old.
But even if this new Wear OS fixes all of the software issues we have with the current version (which is a big if ) we’re still not convinced that will be enough to make this the Android equivalent of the smartwatch world. There is hope for that though, if the following five things also happen.

Previously, the search engine giant unveiled its Google Pixel 5 on September 30. On the other hand, the tech giant manufacturer debuted its Google Pixel 4 on October 15. Taking this into consideration, there s a high chance that Google Pixel 6 Pro and its base model could arrive between these dates.
Google reports its Q1 2021 earnings, with overall revenues slightly down from last quarter.
Google Cloud brought in more revenue and narrowed its losses year over year and compared to last quarter.
YouTube continues to be a catalyst for the company s revenue growth thanks to ads.
Google s parent company, Alphabet, has just released its Q1 2021 financial earnings report. Overall, the company managed to beat expectations, with a 31% year-over-year rise in revenue to $55.31 billion. Much of that was fueled by Search ads and YouTube, two of Google s biggest revenue streams. At the same time, hardware saw a bit of a boost thanks to the Fitbit acquisition, giving Google access to the best fitness trackers on the market. The financial performance of Google Cloud was also in line with what analysts expected, signaling strong growth in the division.
