Look to the Stars April 16, 2021 International advocacy organization Global Citizen has announced VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World, a global broadcast and streaming special that aims to inspire vaccine confidence worldwide and help get the COVID-19 vaccines to everyone, everywhere. During the special, Global Citizen, will call on philanthropists and corporations to donate enough “dollars-for-doses” to vaccinate more than 27 million heroic health workers, that are serving on the global frontlines, in the world’s poorest countries everyday. The special will also encourage global development advocates and changemakers to call on world leaders to prioritize the equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines for everyone, everywhere.

Low-income countries have received just 0.2%, a top WHO official said at a press briefing Friday. On average, 1 in 4 people in high income countries have received a coronavirus vaccine, compared with just 1 in more than 500 in low income countries. Wealthy countries have received the vast majority of the world s supply of Covid-19 vaccine doses, while poor countries have received less than 1%, the World Health Organization said at a press briefing Friday.
