Introduction and summary
The United States has been the global leader in climate science for decades. Unfortunately, progress has slowed and in some cases, even moved backward over the past four years, with the Trump administration dismantling core elements of the federal climate science apparatus. As the country and the planet head toward an increasingly unstable climate, the U.S. government needs to get back to the business of being the preeminent source of trusted applied science that supports climate change mitigation and adaptation decision-making of governments and civilian stakeholders.

On Monday, Eric Feigl-Ding, senior fellow at the Federation of American Scientists in Washington, DC, posted a tweet with the heading LEADERSHIP MATTERS, followed by a comparison of the handling of the coronavirus by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former Taiwanese Vice President Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁), a Johns Hopkins-trained epidemiologist. Chen was at the helm when the outbreak started in Taiwan and oversaw the launch of the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
Report estimates Chinese nuclear stockpile at 350 warheads,

MELBOURNE, Australia A paper published by the Chicago, Illinois-based Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists has estimated that China has 350 nuclear warheads, significantly more than that estimated by the U.S. Defense Department.
The report, written by Hans Kristensen, the director at the Nuclear Information Project at the Federation of American Scientists, and Matt Korda, a research associate at FAS, arrived at the number by counting both operational warheads and newer weapons “still in development.”…….
