Energy schemes and High Speed 2 (HS2) work dominate a list of the top 100 construction projects to start in 2021 compiled by analyst Glenigan.
According to Glenigan, construction project starts are forecast to increase by 17% this year.
The top 100 list identifies 16 energy projects due to start in 2021, while three HS2 schemes feature in the top five by total project value.
Energy schemes include work at Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire (September 2021), Dogger Bank A offshore windfarm (June 2021) and the Woodhouse Colliery in Cumbria (February 2021), along with a number of energy parks and centres.
Drax Power applied in May 2018 for a development consent order to construct and operate two new gas-fired units at the plant, which would have an overall capacity of up to 3,800MW. The application was approved in October 2019 and in June last year a High Court judge dismissed an environmental campaign group’s opposition to the plans.
It s not quite a Grand Design but we intend to completely transform the house.
Our plan was to get a small selection of architects round in the New Year to give us their thoughts on what could be done and draw up some plans.
Can we still do this in the new lockdown, as they would obviously need to visit our home? Are architects among the property professionals still allowed to work?
We will also need to work on finding a builder and put in for planning permission, is this likely to be harder?
