Korean steel industry braces for EU carbon border tariffs Posted : 2021-07-11 16:53 Carbon border adjustment measure scheduled to take effect in 2023 By Kim Hyun-bin The European Union s (EU) carbon border adjustment measure (CBAM) is expected to take a toll on local steel and petrochemical companies, with the Korean government scrambling to brainstorm countermeasures before the new measure takes effect in 2023. The measure is aimed at increasing tariffs on imported goods based on the level of carbon content, in an effort to slash carbon emissions and reduce their impact on climate change. The measure will mark the world s first tax on carbon contained in traded goods. It will be applied heavily to the production of steel, which emits large amounts of greenhouse gases relative to other industries.

중대재해법 시행령, 뇌심혈관 질환·중증도 제외 민혜정 기자 지난 1월 국회에서 중대재해법이 통과되는 모습 [사진=조성우 기자 ] [아이뉴스24 민혜정 기자] 정부가 내년 1월 시행을 앞둔 중대재해 처벌 등에 관한 법률(중대재해법) 의 시행령에 뇌심혈관계 질환과 근골격계 질환, 질병의 심한 정도를 나타내는 중증도를 포함시키지 않았다. 뇌심혈관계·근골격계 질환은 노동계, 중증도는 경영계가 각각 법 취지와 법 적용을 위해 시행령에 반드시 반영돼야 한다고 요청했던 사안이다. 중대재해법 시행령이 입법예고되면 모호한 경영 책임 범위에 이어 중증 질환의 범위가 새로운 쟁점이 될 전망이다. 정부는 12일부터 내달 23일까지 40일간 중대재해법 시행령 제정안을 입법예고할 계획이라고 9일 밝혔다. 제정안은 중대산업재해의 직업성 질병 범위
