FDE to change summer vacation schedule

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training directed on Wednesday the relevant ministry to start summer vacations in federal educational institutions from July 1, as decided by the Punjab government.
During a meeting held at Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Irfan Siddiqui, the committee members questioned the commencement of summer vacations in Punjab and the federation on different dates.
The committee members directed the ministry officials to inform the concerned minister about their concerns on the issue and directed that summer vacations should be announced in federal educational institutions from July 1 like Punjab.

Islamabad: The summer vacation for students in Islamabad s government schools and colleges will begin on July 18 and last until August 1.
This was announced by the Federal Directorate of Education through a notification.
According to it, the new academic session will begin on August 2.
The summer break duration has been shortened this year due to the pandemic-induced school closures during the last one year.
Menawhile, Punjab Minister for Education Murad Raas, in a tweet, said that the schools in the province would go on summer vacation from July 1 to August 1.
“[During vacation], my request to all the children and their families is to follow SOPs issued by the government,” the education minister said.

This was notified by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), which supervises 423 public sector schools and colleges in Islamabad.
“Summer vacation will be observed in all educational institutions working under the ambit of Federal Directorate of Education w.e.f 18-07-2021 to 01-08-2021,” it read.
Another notification while elaborating the promotion policy stated that even though all students from classes prep to seven will be promoted without appearing in annual examination, four formative classroom assessments per subject of every student shall be kept in the school’s record duly verified by the respective head of the institution.
No annual examinations for students from Class Prep-VII; FDE notifies

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has notified on Tuesday that there will be no annual examinations for the students from Class Prep to VII and all the students shall be promoted to the next respective class.
However 04 formative/classroom assessments per subject of every student must be kept in school record duly verified by respective head of institutions.
Out of the total four assessments (carrying 100 percent marks), each assessment will comprise of 25 percent marks.
This was announced by FDE through a notification issued here titled `Promotion Policy for Class I to VIII for Academic Session 2020-21’.
