U.S. dollar slips amid Powell testimony

NEW YORK, July 14 (Xinhua) The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Wednesday as market participants looked to the testimony by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.38 percent at 92.4050. In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.1830 U.S. dollars from 1.1782 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3852 dollars from 1.3820 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar increased to 0.7477 U.S. dollar from 0.7445 dollar. The U.S. dollar bought 110.00 Japanese yen, lower than 110.59 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.9146 Swiss franc from 0.9186 Swiss franc, and it fell to 1.2508 Canadian dollars from 1.2518 Canadian dollars.
