Florida opts out of $300 federal unemployment benefit to push people back to workforce Catherine Hawley reports TAMPA, Fla. - Florida is now one of 26 states to end pandemic unemployment benefits early. We re using Indeed we re using Facebook, we re using all the different, Craigslist, you name it. We re trying to get people in to come back and work.

Summertime giving By Staff | Jun 28, 2021 Summer in Southwest Florida has lots going for it for those of us who embrace the sunshine or love nothing better than the sound of a late-afternoon thunder-boomer. Less crowded beaches. More time for, well, most anything that makes this a great place to live. For some of us, though, particularly those involved with any of the area’s many non-profits or social services organizations, there is no summer break. A pair of press releases received by our newsroom this week illustrated this well. School hasn’t been out yet a week, but the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc. has already launched its annual Back to School Supply Drive.
