Kim Reynolds announced Tuesday that Iowa will end participation in several pandemic-related federal unemployment benefits programs due to a severe workforce shortage.“Effective June 12, 2021, the State of Iowa will end its participation in federal pandemic-related unemployment benefit programs. Iowa will continue to provide regular state unemployment insurance benefits to those eligible under the applicable state code,” Reynolds said through a news release.According to Reynolds, the week ending June 12 will be the last week that the following federal pandemic-related unemployment benefit programs are available in Iowa: Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) Pandemic Unemploymen

OAKLAND, Calif. - The latest Labor Department report shows another 841,000 people filed new claims for state unemployment, plus another 308,000 gig workers and independent contractors filed for Federal Pandemic Relief. All told, that s well over 1.1 million new claims just last week, down only slightly from the previous week but well over any other we experienced in the Great Recession.
One year ago, folks celebrated the coming of 2020 with justifiable economic hope, confidence, but oblivious to the invisible enemy already beginning to spread. But, just last week, 210,000 Californians applied for state or Federal unemployment assistance.

OAKLAND, Calif. - Sometime early in the new year, 85% of U.S. households will get a $600 Economic Impact Payment check or an electronic deposit for each adult, only half of what they got last spring. Children under age 17, will also get $600. That money is gonna be spent. Spent on rent, on food on basic necessities. It s gonna go into the economy so it pumps right back in, said Golden Gate University School of Business Dean Emeritus Terry Connelly.
So, a married couple making up to $150,000 per year, with two children, would get a $2,400 payment.
