Seafarers President Assures Workers Of Better Welfare In 2021

Yousuo said more Nigerian seafarers would enjoy employment following interventions from the International Transport Workers Federation. He gave this assurance in his Christmas message to members of the association. According to him, a single collective bargaining agreement and joint monitoring team will be put in place for the wellbeing of Nigerian seamen. Meanwhile, the seafarers’ national leader called on the Federal Government to prepare adequate protection and compensation to seafarers as the second wave of COVID-19 was gradually infiltrating nations of the world. Yousuo urged seafarers’ employers to take the welfare of their workers very serious by paying them adequately.

20 killed on Lokoja-Abuja highway, Osun crashes Twenty persons have been killed in different road crashes in Kogi and Osun States. In Kogi State, 17 persons lost their lives in a crash that occurred on the Irepene Abuja/Lokoja highway. The accident happened around 5am on Tuesday. It was gathered that the accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a luxury passenger bus heading for the South-South and the northern part of the country. It was further learnt that 15 persons died on spot, while other passengers, who sustained varying degrees of injury, were rushed to hospital. Two of the passengers, who were rushed to hospital, later died.

It was reliably gathered that the accident was between a Toyota Hiace bus and a luxury bus which had passengers heading towards the South South and the northern flank of the country. DAILY POST further learnt that, 15 persons died on spot of the incident while other passengers who sustained degrees of injuries were rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, two passengers who were rushed to the hospital later died. The Kogi State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp, (FRSC), Solomon Agure confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Tuesday.
