A former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has faulted an order of the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Usman Alkali, directing the police officers to deal ruthlessly with criminal elements and secessionists who attempt to test their will.
Chidoka, an erstwhile Corps Marshal/Chief Executive of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), noted that Alkaliâs directive âis as problematic as it is embarrassing,â saying it violated minimum democratic norms and human rights principles.
He faulted Alkaliâs directive in a statement by his media aide, Mr. Ezechukwu Okafor, describing the IGâs directives as unfortunate and unacceptable.

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr Boboye Oyeyemi has expressed shock over the death of the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru which sad incident occurred at the Kaduna Airport on Friday, 21st May, in an air mishap.
He described the unfortunate incident as saddening and a great loss to the nation at this critical period when the Armed Forces is committed to winning the war over the insurgency in Nigeria.
The Corps Marshal in a statement on Sunday by the Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Bisi Kazeem, prayed for the repose of the souls of the gallant officer and those of other Officers and crew who died in the air crash.
