Rep. Raul Ruiz, Dr. Conrado Bárzaga reflect on Biden s presidential address
U.S. Rep. Raul Ruiz, D-Palm Desert, was one of 200 people who made the exclusive in-person guest list Wednesday night as President Joe Biden addressed a joint session of Congress. Joining him as his virtual guest was Dr. Conrado Bárzaga, CEO of the Desert Healthcare District.
The address marked the 100th day of the president’s term. In the past, Ruiz has invited a constituent to join him in Washington, D.C., as his guest to such addresses, but due to COVID-19 safety protocols, in-person attendance was limited.

Lee Health Offers Vaccines To All
Beginning today, Lee Health is offering vaccine doses to all Floridians 18 and older. Appointments can be made online here. All doses are being administered at Gulf Coast Medical Center.
“The 1 million vaccine milestone is a tremendous achievement by our incredibly hard-working pharmacy teams,” Meijer President and CEO Rick Keyes said in a statement.
“When the vaccine rollout began, we were focused on moving as quickly as possible to keep our communities safe,” Keyes explained. “Achieving this number in just over three months is a true demonstration of the focus and tenacity of the Meijer team members involved in this important initiative.”
With the national ramp-up COVID-19 vaccine supply, Meijer said it can now offer the immunizations the two-shot Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines on a walk-up basis at stores. Each store will have at least 100 doses per week for customers to get the vaccine at their convenience, and shots will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis, the retailer said.
