While Gov. Greg Abbott will soon loosen COVID-19 restrictions and rescind the statewide mask mandate, federal and state officials are prioritizing vaccinating educators.
Some teachers say educators should have been prioritized earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ross Middle School physical education teacher Patricia Amezaga, whose diabetic husband is also a teacher, said she has been worried about him contracting COVID-19. There s so many teachers who are afraid to be at school, Amezaga said.

BOSTON (CBS) – A total of just 12,000 new first dose appointments for mass vaccinations sites in Massachusetts were made available Thursday morning and they went fast. All appointments for the seven locations next week were booked by 10:30 a.m.
“Unfortunately due to limited supply, it will take about a month for all eligible residents to secure an appointment,” the state tweeted Thursday.
Due to high demand and a very limited vaccine supply from the federal government, all appointments at mass vaccination locations for next week have been booked.
The long-awaited, one-dose Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine has now been administered in the United States for the first time outside of a clinical trial.
