PITTSFIELD, Mass. Local health officials are disappointed with the state Department of Health for backing out of an investigation of health concerns related to a Verizon cell tower at 877 South St. On Wednesday, the Board of Health approved an alternative action plan to procure a firm that specializes in the measurement of radio frequency radiation to determine if the tower is in compliance with 47 CFR 1.1310 or federal radio frequency radiation exposure limits and will be advocating for the affected neighborhood to Gov. Charlie Baker and the Legislature. The Environmental Toxicology Program at Mass DPH offered its assistance in listening to residents concerns after the Board of Health said it doesn t have the expertise to investigate on its own. Consumers could receive discounts of up to $50 a month. A one-time discount of up to $100 on a computer or tablet will also be offered to eligible households, according to a news release from Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper.

US coalition calls for FCC spectrum shake-up - Mobile World Live 10 MAY 2021
The recently formed 5G for 12GHz Coalition called on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to unlock the spectrum band to boost US next-generation ambitions, arguing current rules were holding the nation back.
In a statement, the coalition called for amendments to rules it argues are decades old and which are now impacting the US in a 5G race with China. It added it is imperative the US now moves to enable spectrum sharing among 5G terrestrial services, direct broadband satellite and non-geostationary orbiting satellites.
The 5G for 12GHz Coalition was formed last month, with more than 20 members consisting of public interest groups, trade associations and companies in the telecoms sector lobbying for the FCC to allow 12GHz spectrum to be for next-generation services.
