Mobile News As sanctions continue to bite, Huawei is moving away from smartphones and infrastructure It must have been a day of celebration on November 21 at Huawei’s vast 127-hectare lakeside office park in the southern Chinese city of Dongguan. One can easily imagine the cheering from the 25,000 employees as the hated Trump lost the presidency to liberal globalist Joe Biden. Surely the Huawei dynasty leaders must have thought Biden will save us. Broadband Companies Faked Anti-Net Neutrality FCC Comments, Report Says

Broadband Companies Faked Anti-Net Neutrality FCC Comments, Report Says Of the 22 million comments submitted during the public comment period, around 18 million were not genuine, a state attorney general s office says. New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office has revealed after an extensive investigation that the vast majority ― around 80% ― of comments made to the Federal Communications Commission about proposed changes to net neutrality laws were faked. Around 40%, or 8.5 million comments, were funded by internet service providers in order to protect their interests. They included fabricated comments from dead people, some of which were discovered by their loved ones. Although the fact that some of the FCC comments were fake was known back in 2017, the new report out of James’ office reveals the massive scale of the operation.

Telcos crammed 8 5m fake comments against net neutrality into FCC s inbox

These lead generation companies used various deceptive techniques to capture people s personal information and entice them to submit it, like websites offering gift cards and other incentives. The websites were interleaved with forms to submit comments to the FCC in a way that was generally done without consent. The broadband companies that, through their lobbying group, Broadband for America, hired these firms, however, are not being penalized. The OAG has not found evidence, however, that the broadband companies that funded and organized these lead generators had direct knowledge of fraud, the report says. Nonetheless, the report says the conduct of the broadband companies and their lobbying firm is troubling. It notes that the broadband companies campaign organizers ignored several significant red flags as to the authenticity of the comments, and it calls out the lack of oversight of these lead generation companies.

From the Existential Issue: The Pirate Radio Capital In 2018, David Goren, a radio producer and audio archivist, created the Brooklyn Pirate Radio Sound Map to collect the sounds of dozens of pirated broadcasts from across the borough. Pirate stations earn their name by hitching a ride on already licensed radio frequencies that typically cost commercial stations millions of dollars to acquire and set up. Nowhere in the country are there more pirate radio stations than in New York, where they provide a vital service to immigrant populations. Goren estimates that New York has about a hundred pirate stations, transmitting from rooftops and attics to listeners seeking news from around the city and back home, as well as entertainment and religious programming. The broadcasts bypass socioeconomic barriers and provide a means to seize control of the flow of information. But they are now at risk of extinction: Before Donald Trump left the White House, he signed the Pirate Act, which increa
