PETALING JAYA: Only 8.5% of foreign workers in targeted areas have been screened for Covid-19 under its screening programme from Dec 1 to Dec 29, says Socso.
Its CEO Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Dato Aziz Mohammed said as of 12pm on Dec 29, a total of 74,482 screening tests on foreign workers were reported to have been conducted, involving 2,601 employers. There were 750 clinics in the six states that have registered their interests to conduct the tests under the Covid-19 Screening Programme for Foreign Workers, he said.
He urged employers to immediately send their workers for screening, instead of waiting for the last minute.

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia recorded 2,355 new Covid-19 cases Saturday, the highest daily figure since the pandemic hit the country, taking the total number of cases so far to 103,900.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new development also took the number of active cases beyond the 20,000 mark for the first time with 20,035 cases, with two new deaths involving Malaysians recorded.
He said the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur reported the highest number of new cases at 728, with 677 of them involving existing clusters and the result of close contract screenings.

Apart from the Army (TD) pioneered by Fifth Division, he said, the role of ATM is also played by the Eastern Fleet Command Headquarters and the Region Two Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) based in the Federal Territory of Labuan.
“In general, the security situation in Sabah is still under control and we have a comprehensive strategy or mechanism involving all agencies.
