Federal Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution, Pfizer Shipments
In a virtual news conference, Major-General Dany Fortin, the vice-president of logistics and operations at the Public Health Agency of Canada and head of the country’s vaccine distribution efforts, Dr. Howard Njoo, Canada’s deputy chief public health officer, and Arianne Reza, assistant deputy minister at Public Services and Procurement Canada, provide an update on Canada’s distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. Major-General Fortin faces questions on reports that some provinces were informed Canada would receive 3.5 million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines doses by the end of March instead of the 4 million promised by the manufacturer. Fortin explains that the discrepancy is due to the fact that Pfizer is now suggesting six doses per vial, while Canada is operating under regulations of five doses.
