A one-of-a-kind area here in northwestern Ontario is getting a big boost from the Federal Government.
The Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario, more commonly known as FedNor, is investing almost $200 thousand into the International Institute for Sustainable Development Experimental Lakes Area (ELA).
Matt McCandless is the senior director of the ELA and tells us that the money will go towards the Canada Centre for Climate and Lake Learning.
“This investment of $180 thousand from FedNor is critical to bring the project to its next stage,” says McCandless, “Specifically, the funding will be used to hire architects and engineers to prepare blueprints, cost estimates and work plans so that project will be shovel-ready very soon.”
