UK supermarkets are funding the destruction of the natural world by buying from a company which has been supplied by Brazilian cattle ranchers who have burned down the Pantanal.
The Pantanal is the world s largest linked wetland, and provides crucial habitat for jaguars, macaws and ocelots.
30 per cent of the wetland burned in 2020, including habitats of rare species (over 571,900 ha of protected areas). The total – some 4.49 million ha – represents an 84 per cent increase in burned area over 2019 (2.44 million ha).
