An orphan college - Newspaper

BEING the only public-sector medical college in Islamabad, the Federal Medical College, previously known as the Federal Medical and Dental College, has remained an orphan since its inception in 2012. Even after one whole decade, the college lacks basic amenities and facilities for the students, although it is an affiliate medical college of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University. The washrooms meant for girls are in a rundown condition and there is no canteen or cafeteria for the students. During scorching summers, most air conditioners remain out of order and the ones working are turned off by the college administration. There are no proper lecture halls with requisite equipment and laboratory facilities. FMTI hosts white coat ceremony Islamabad March 3, 2021 Islamabad: The Federal Medical Teaching Institutes (FMTI) convened the whitecoat ceremony of the new batch of the Federal Medical College (FMC) and School of Dentistry (SOD) for the session 2020-21 here Tuesday. The PM’s Special Assistant on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan presided over the ceremony, which was also attended by Members of the Board of Governors of FMTI, Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) Prof. Dr. Tanwir Khaliq, Ex-Executive Director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Dr Ansar Maqsood, senior faculty members, and officers of respective colleges.
