The Senate has uncovered how former President Goodluck Jonathan, his deputy, Namadi Sambo, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigerian Army, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) benefitted from alleged diversion of N665.8 billion Solid Minerals Development and Stabilisation Funds through the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF).
The upper legislative chamber has, therefore, ordered the AGF to ensure that the misappropriated funds in form of loans and Special allocations were recovered and paid back to the Special Funds Accounts within 60 days.
The Senate gave the marching order to the AGF after consideration and approval of the 2015 Auditor-General’s report presented at plenary by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, Senator Mathew Urhoghide.
The conference aims to explore emerging opportunities in airfreight amid the COVID-19 disruptions.
Though a premier initiative, major stakeholders are signing up for the two-day event. Among them is the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), the apex body in charge of promoting export in Nigeria. NEPC will be making a presentation on how exporters can be assisted to do more through aviation.
The recent gazette of four airports as export processing zones, brings to fore the importance of the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) to the growth of Aviacargo in Nigeria. x
NEPC and NEPZA will be joining the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and Ethiopian Airlines as major partners of the first Aviacargo event in Nigeria. The two leading Aviation Cargo and Logistics companies in Nigeria NAHCO and SAHCO will be major players at the event along with many Airlines, Logistics and global financial service companies.
