More U.S. Air Force planes are set to operate in the Pacific next year as China continues to flex its muscles in the South China Sea with its ongoing build up across contested islands in the region.
Pacific Air Forces, headquartered at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, plans to expand its Pacific island-hopping campaign next year known as Agile Combat Employment, or ACE to give airmen the skill set they need to operate from anywhere at a moment s notice, said Gen. Kenneth S. Wilsbach, PACAF commander.

A U.S. Air Force B-2 Spirit deployed from Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, in support of the U.S. Strategic Command’s Bomber Task Force deployment is parked on the flightline Sept. 26, 2018. The B-2 is a multi-role bomber with a wingspan of 172 feet capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear munitions.
Three B-2 Spirits and approximately 200 Airmen completed their first deployment to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, in support of the U.S. Strategic Command’s Bomber Task Force deployment, Aug. 15-Sept. 27, 2018.
Though bombers regularly rotate throughout the Indo-Pacific, this marked the first deployment of B-2s to JBPH-H.

An Army sergeant from Panama, Oklahoma who was killed during the Korean War has been identified by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency.
Billy V. Rodgers was 19 when he was reported missing in action on Dec. 2, 1950. He was accounted for on April 9, 2020, the POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced recently.
In late 1950, Rodgers was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 31st Regimental Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division. His unit was attacked by enemy forces near the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea. Following the battle, his remains could not be recovered, the agency noted.
On July 27, 2018, following the summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un in June 2018, North Korea turned over 55 boxes, purported to contain the remains of American service members killed during the Korean War. The remains arrived at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii on Aug. 1, 2018, and were then given over to the POW/MIA
