External attempts to destabilize situation in Belarus described as threat to CSTO

MOSCOW, 27 April (BelTA) – Unconcealed attempts to destabilize the situation in Belarus from the outside have become a threat to the entire Collective Security Treaty Organization. Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav Zas made the statement after a session of the CSTO Defense Ministers Council in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 27 April, BelTA learned from CSTO Press Secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov.
Stanislav Zas said: “Unconcealed attempts to destabilize the domestic political situation in Belarus from the outside for the sake of illegally replacing the government in the country after the presidential election of 9 August 2020 have become a real threat to the security of not only the Republic of Belarus but the Collective Security Treaty Organization as a whole.”
CSTO to develop biosecurity program
MOSCOW, 27 April (BelTA) - The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic, intends to develop a mechanism to ensure biological security. This was announced at a meeting of defense ministers and secretaries of security councils of CSTO countries with Chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zaynetdinov told BelTA.
“The example of the COVID-19 pandemic made it clear that with the rapid spread of various infectious diseases across the globe, the threat to security is increasing. Therefore, the participants of the meeting voiced the need to take specific measures, keeping in mind the positions of the parties to develop a mechanism to ensure biological security of the CSTO member states,” the spokesman said.
