The election was held on January 10, and Japarov won 79.2 % of votes; the turnout was 39.75 %. “Russia and Kyrgyzstan have accumulated large experience of fruitful cooperation in various fields, constructive interaction within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Community, Collective Security Treaty Organization, Commonwealth of Independent State and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. I hope that your activity as the head of state will contribute to the further build-up of the entire complex of Russian-Kyrgyz ties,” Putin said.
