Boat with irregular migrants aboard returned to Lebanon © CyprusMail 2021 Fifty-six irregular migrants aboard a boat spotted off Cape Greco on Sunday afternoon were denied entry to the Republic of Cyprus and have returned to Lebanon, the Cyprus News Agency reported on Monday. It said police had been notified of the boat 16 nautical miles south of Cape Greco. Two coastguard vessels went to the area, one of them with nurses and translators, while the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre was informed. Officers checked the documents of those on board the boat – 39 men, seven women and 10 children – who said they had sailed from Tripoli, Lebanon.

A Japanese fishing boat and an Australian Navy ship have rescued 20 Indonesian fishermen left stranded on the sea after their fishing boat KM Bandar Nelayan 118 sank about 650 nautical miles west of Perth, Australia, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.  The entire crew of the KM Bandar Nelayan 188, totaling 20 Indonesian citizens, were rescued, the ministry said in the statement. The ministry said there were 26 Indonesian crew members on board, based on initial information, in an earlier statement.

Our Inshore Rescue Boat stations enhance our ability to respond to emergencies in Canadian waters. In Ontario, Inshore Rescue Boat stations located on the Great Lakes, Georgian Bay and St. Lawrence River are now open. They include the stations located at Britt and Brebeuf Island (Georgian Bay), Hill Island (St. Lawrence River), Port Lambton (St. Clair River), Thames River (Lake St. Clair) and Long Point (Lake Erie).   Each Inshore Rescue Boat station is crewed by post-secondary students hired and trained by the Canadian Coast Guard. They provide additional maritime search and rescue service during the busy summer recreational boating season.

Distressed Italian sailor in fishing boat rescued

© In-Cyprus 2021 An Italian sailor in distress aboard a fishing boat was rescued late on Monday east of Cape Saint Andreas, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre has announced. In a press release, the JRCC also said the distressed person was on the Italian fishing boat called  “GRECALE” some eight nautical miles from the Cape. And that JRCC Larnaca had activated the National Search and Rescue Plan “NEARCHOS” to air evacuate the person who transferred to Larnaca General Hospital after midnight.
