Passenger killed in 3-vehicle crash involving dump truck, tractor trailer

The truck was traveling southbound in the right lane in West Deptford Township shortly before 3 p.m. when it was struck from behind by a tractor trailer, according to a New Jersey State Police spokesman.
The impact sent the dump truck into the left lane, where it hit a car.
The car and dump truck then struck a guardrail and the truck overturned.
The dump truck passenger, Gary Shute, 75, of Pedricktown, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The truck driver, a 76-year-old Woolwich Township man, was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden with serious injuries.

A Cumberland County man died of his injuries following a two-vehicle collision in Millville.
Stephen Butts, 30, of Seabrook, was driving a car south on Dumont Drive shortly before 8:30 p.m. on April 2 when the vehicle entered the intersection with Cedar Street and collided with a pickup truck traveling west on Cedar, according to Millville Police.
Butts had to be freed from his vehicle by emergency responders.
He was taken to a local hospital, then transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he died the following day.
A 31-year-old passenger in his car was taken to Cooper for treatment of his injuries.
