Two drivers suffered serious injuries in a head-on crash on state Route 94 in Jamul on Thursday morning, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 5:25 a.m. just east of Vista Sage Lane, California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Garrow said.
A 20-year-old Chula Vista man behind the wheel of a westbound 1999 Honda Civic crossed over into the eastbound lane and slammed head-on into a 2017 Subaru WRX driven by a 22-year-old San Diego man, Garrow said.
Both drivers were taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment of serious injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening, the officer said.

JAMUL, Calif. (CNS) - Two drivers suffered serious injuries in a head-on crash Thursday morning in Jamul, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 5:25 a.m. on state Route 94, just east of Vista Sage Lane, California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Garrow said.

The victim underwent emergency surgery for his wound. Authorities did not release his condition, other than to say he was stable.
The shooting suspect, who was only identified as a 64-year-old man, barricaded himself inside the home. Deputies made loudspeaker announcements for the man to surrender, but he refused to comply.
Due to his unwillingness to cooperate, the Sheriff s Crisis Negotiations Teams (CNT) and Special Enforcement Detail (SED) assisted in the response. CNT successfully made contact with the man and were in communication with him for hours in an effort to get him to surrender.
Authorities were in contact with the man into the following day.
JAMUL (KUSI) – A suspected gunman who barricaded himself inside a Jamul home and refused to come out for over 16 hours was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The initial shooting was reported shortly before noon Monday at a house on Lyons Valley Road near Daley Truck Trail, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
During the initial incident, a man was shot in the upper body and taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where he underwent surgery, Lt. Pat McEvoy said. An update on the man’s condition was not immediately available.
