Central Pa. elementary school teacher accused of sexually abusing child, state police say

A second-grade teacher in the Gettysburg School District is facing multiple charges for the sexual abuse of a child who wasn’t his student, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Vincent P. Marfia, 40, sexually abused the child between 2010 and 2014, while they were between 10 and 14 years old, state police said. He’s charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault and corruption of minors.
State police believe there could be other victims because of Marfia’s job as a teacher. Anyone with information on other incidents of abuse should contact the state police.
A second grade Pennsylvania teacher is facing charges after police alleged he sexually abused a child.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Vincent Marfia, 40, is facing indecent assault, corruption of minors, deviate sexual intercourse, and related charges. NBC 8 reports that the alleged victim was between the age of 10 to 13.
Marfia teaches for the Gettysburg School District at Franklin Township Elementary School. According to investigators, Marfia knew the victim but the child was not one of his students.
“He’s denying it, absolutely denies it,” Marfia’s lawyer, David Reed Erhard, told The New Haven Register. “We’re hoping that people will reserve judgment until the case has run its course.”

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - A Gettysburg school teacher has been charged with sexually abusing his adopted child and authorities fear there could be more victims.
Vincent Marfia, a second grade teacher in the Gettysburg School District, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, incest and corruption of minors. His bail was set at $50,000.
The alleged abuse occurred when the victim was between 10 and 14-years-old, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
His defense lawyer says the 50-year-old Littlestown resident denies the allegations. A Gettysburg Area School District spokesperson says Marfia won t be on school property during the investigation.
