Raphael Warnock on January 4 in Atlanta. Nsenga Burton grew up in a military family that liked to travel and went everywhere from New York City and Washington, D.C., to the Caribbean. There was one place, though, that her mother dreaded visiting: the Deep South. Her mother saw it as a forbidding land of lynch mobs and Whites Only signs, where Black people went missing just for trying to vote.
