Why picking your nose isn t just gross — it s dangerous in the time of coronavirus

Why picking your nose isn t just gross it s dangerous in the time of coronavirus CNN 12/29/2020 By Starre Vartan, CNN © Shutterstock It can be diffcult to resist, but picking your nose is something that should be avoided for good nasal health. We teach kids not to do it. It s unsanitary. It s just plain gross to see. Let s be real, though. Most of us pick our noses some 91% according to the only (small and old) study that seems to have ever been done on the subject, perhaps revealing how little even scientists want to think about it. Looking around the world, however, it s not exactly uncommon to see someone with a finger up their nose, either discreetly or not so much, like Queen Elizabeth.

The moon may have far more lunar craters than previously known

The moon may have far more lunar craters than previously known CNN 12/22/2020 By Katie Hunt, CNN © Juan Mabromata/AFP/Getty Images Using artificial intelligence, Chinese scientists identified over 109,000 previously unrecognized lunar craters on the moon s surface. The moon is shown here, as seen from Buenos Aires on December 21. Moon craters formed when meteorites and asteroids slammed into the lunar surface. Like fossils on Earth, they reveal something about the history of the solar system and how planets were formed. Using artificial intelligence, Chinese scientists have estimated that there are more than 100,000 craters on the moon, according to a study published Tuesday in the journal Nature Communications. That s far more than the 9,137 officially recognized by the International Astronomical Union and largely detected manually using elevation information and images, the study said.
