Changes Approved For Quispamsis Development

Town council gave their initial approval to the Elmtree Hill Development complex last July. But last month, the developer The initial application put forward by Ali Kamkar of Mahkam Living Ltd. included three, four-storey residential buildings with 40, 36 and 24 units. The revised application would maintain the 100 units but instead have two, four-storey buildings with 50 units in each. In place of the original 24-unit building would be a single-storey onsite storage facility which would create more space for underground parking.

Gordon, a retired army veteran of three Afghanistan tours, was looking for ways to get involved in the community and was inspired after learning children in high poverty areas often rely on getting food through their schools. “With the schools being shut down at the beginning of the pandemic and then moving forward with the continuous rotation of red, yellow, I just thought ‘There’s no way that people that are in poverty are able to get substantial food to live by,’” said Gordon.

Peter Lewis Re-Offering In Rothesay

Peter Lewis, who was first elected to council in 2012, is re-offering in the upcoming municipal elections. Lewis has lived in the Kennebecasis Valley town for nearly three decades. He pointed to some of council’s past accomplishments, including maintaining the tax rate for nine years and implementing a new EMO plan. If re-elected, Lewis said some of his priorities would be maintaining a stable tax rate for residents, working with council to donate a building lot to Habitat for Humanity, and moving forward on the Rothesay Arena renovation.
