Grab your sneakers and your best friend and come out to the fourth annual ETABS GLOW Run at 7:30 p.m. June 12 at the Cain Center. Register online, adults are $35 and children 12 and under are $20.
Registration can be done online at Active.com, by phone or in person and each runner will receive a t-shirt, glow-in-the-dark necklace and number that includes a time-tracking chip.
âThe GLOW run is a wonderful family and pet friendly event,â Deas said. âEveryone who registers will receive a glow stick.â
Come early to warm up, stretch and receive your number. This event is one of the fund-raisers ETABS hosts to keep the flowers blooming. This local treasure is full of history, beauty and even an event venue. Workers and volunteers work tirelessly to keep the grounds equivalent to a much larger city.

A $25 million regional arts center breaks ground Friday in downtown Cornelius. Town officials say the project has sparked other residential and commercial development nearby, including a brewery and apartments.
Planning for the
Cain Center for the Arts began in 2015. As word about the project has spread, it has made people think differently about downtown Cornelius. The arts center, and the availability of vacant land and industrial buildings, has brought a flurry of activity, said Deputy Town Manager Wayne Herron.

Cain Center Director Chris Baker presented a new logo for the venue and a slate of fees for services at the City Council meeting on Monday.
The council approved the new logo designs and heard a first reading on the rate schedule. A second reading and final vote on the rates will come at a later meeting, possibly May 24.
âWeâve got the newly renovated Cain Center, so we wanted to have a new logo to go with it,â Baker said.
The new logo maintains the capital A, with a cutout of the shape of Texas in it, used in other city logos.

Kiwanis Pancake Day is one of Athensâ longest lasting traditions, but that doesnât mean there havenât been changes along the way. The 2021 version is 6 a.m to 8 p.m, Tuesday, May 4 at the First United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Tickets are $6 pre-sale and $7 at the door.
âI think we may be surprised at the turnout, because people want to get back to normal,â said Jeaneane Lilly,
Athens Kiwanis President.
Pancake Day Committee Chairman Thomas Faulk said theyâre doing things a little differently this year in the interest of COVID-19 safety. What hasnât changed is their offering of a delicious meal for just a few bucks.
