(WIS) - A suspect wanted in connection with an armed robber of a Kershaw County Dollar General is now in custody after turning himself in. Around 5 a.m. Friday, Therine Miller, 29, of Lancaster called 911 to turn himself in for robbing the Lugoff Dollar General on December 29, 2020. RELATED STORY: Kershaw County deputies transported Miller to county investigators and later to Kershaw County Detention Center. Officials say that it is unclear why Miller turned himself in but they believe that he is homeless and that the cold, wet conditions Thursday night may have factored into him subsequently turning himself in.

(WIS) - Deputies in Kershaw County have arrested a registered sex offender in connection with the kidnapping of an 11-year-old girl. Authorities received a report about the missing girl after she did not return home from school. Not long after receiving the report, a Kershaw County deputy spotted a wrecked 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. The deputy found the girl inside with 63-year-old Charles Hargett. According to KCSO, Hargett has a history of sexual crime convictions and appeared to be heavily intoxicated inside the vehicle with the girl.

Kershaw County Sheriff s Office investigating shooting incident in Lugoff

Deputies say a subject was seen leaving in a gray four-door sedan heading towards Highway 601. Officials say the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment where he later succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead. The Kershaw County Coroner David West made notifications to the victim’s family and identified him as Vidal Bastein, 36, of New York.

(WIS) - One person has died following a shooting that put an elementary school in Lugoff on lockdown briefly “out of an abundance of caution,” officials confirmed. It happened around 9:15 a.m. Thursday at a house in the 1400 block of Fort Jackson Boulevard. That’s just off Interstate 20 at the Hwy 601 exit and about three miles from Doby’s Mill Elementary School.
