Bay State Milling brings us Flourish, a healthier all-purpose flour

If 2020 has sparked a desire to bake more than ever, a new flour from Bay State Milling of Quincy might be appealing. Several months ago, the company introduced Flourish, all-purpose flour with five times more fiber than unbleached white flour â ¼-cup yields 6 grams of fiber compared to 1 gram for regular all-purpose. The flour is produced from fiber-rich wheat grown by family-owned farms in the Pacific Northwest, upper Midwest, and Arizonaâs desert region. Itâs then milled into flour higher in prebiotic fiber and lower in carbs that adds nutrition to your loaves of bread and baked goods. Two organizations are teaming up to package 100,000 meals to distribute to local food missions and pantries in Cleveland County.
The Greater Cleveland County Baptist Association along with the Meals of Hope is calling for volunteers to package those meals on Saturday, May 8. The organization is asking the community to pitch in by committing to at least one two-hour shift.
“We had a couple of our churches that did it on a smaller scaler two years ago, and we decided we wanted to be able to do it association wide and have more people involved and do it on a bigger scale,” said Greater Cleveland County Baptist Association Missions and Ministry Team Leader Katie Harris.
