Set scores were 25-21, 25-16, 22-25 and 25-17.
Outside hitter Aasia McNeill led the Red Hawks (3-0, 1-0 in Region 10) with 14 kills and 16 digs, while right side Saniya Harris added 11 kills and one block.
Setter Amber Barker aided the CVCC attack with a team-high 31 assists, while libero Caitlin Dailey paced Catawba Valley defensively with 24 digs.
The CVCC volleyball team returns to action on Thursday for its home conference opener against Bryant & Stratton. Match time is set for 6 p.m. at the Tarlton Complex.

The Catawba Valley Community College softball program starts its second season of play on Friday and Saturday with its first annual Catawba Valley Clash round-robin event.
Five programs are scheduled to participate in the event being held at the Highland Recreation Center in Hickory, including CVCC, Patrick Henry, Surry and Cleveland community colleges and the Montreat JV team.
“We are very excited to be hosting the first-ever Catawba Valley Clash,” said CVCC head softball coach Josh Bumgarner. “What a great way to usher in the restart of college softball and the season by having a bunch of good teams come together and play.”
HICKORY â Three grant recipients have been announced through CVCCâs Everyday Entrepreneur Venture Fund, a program to assist CVCC students and recent grads who want to start a business by providing a grant for a portion of their start up.
Brandy Grigg, Fong Xiong and Evan Harris were all presented with their grant recently during a small ceremony at the Workforce Solutions Complex on the campus of Catawba Valley Community College.
All three grant winners took part in the CVCC Everyday Entrepreneur Venture Fund (EEVF) program, which was created through the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) to help students and recent graduates build new businesses through community college resources and sustain their success. The program provides training, seed funding, and business mentoring.

Three Catawba Valley Community College athletic teams moved up in this week’s rankings by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
The polls, which were released on Monday, showcased both the Red Hawk volleyball and women’s basketball teams in the No. 5 spot in their respective Division II polls.
Last week, the CVCC volleyball program debuted at No. 7 in the NJCAA DII volleyball poll, while the Catawba Valley women’s basketball program entered at No. 8 in the NCJAA DII women’s basketball rankings.
A week after receiving votes for a second-straight preseason, the CVCC men’s basketball program entered the top 20 rankings for the first time in program history.
