Lenoir field hospital closing, treated 78 COVID-19 patients

A husband and wife were admitted to the emergency COVID-19 field hospital in Lenoir on the same day. They were nervousÂ â as anyone being treated for a new virus in a hospital made of tents would be, Samaritanâs Purse Medical Director Erin Holzhauer said. Both made it through the coronavirus and were discharged on the same day, she said. Days later, the husband returned to the hospital, which was set up in the parking lot of Caldwell UNC Health Care. He wanted to thank the staff. âHe said COVID is an awful disease and he would not wish it upon anyone,â Holzhauer said. âBut he said, âI would not take my COVID back.â Because he wouldnât want to lose his experience in the tent hospital. â¦ That is really what stands out to me.â

Hickory High School employee dies from COVID-19 Larry Conger had been hospitalized on a ventilator since Jan. 1. The community continues to rally around him and his family. Author: Briana Harper (WCNC) Updated: 11:18 PM EST February 4, 2021 HICKORY, N.C. In late December, husband and wife Larry and Barbara Conger of Hickory both tested positive for the coronavirus. Barbara Conger recovered with mild symptoms, but Larry Conger had been battling much more serious complications, landing him in the hospital. Late Thursday evening, Hickory Public Schools confirmed Conger has died from COVID-19. The head of maintenance for Hickory High Larry was actually a teacher in our school he taught the students and staff about kindness every day! Always in our hearts, the school wrote on Twitter.
