Unlike previous years, 2020 has a pandemic in the background, affecting everything, subtle and gross.
Some areas are undeterred by the virus: Collinsville has an area warming center at the First Baptist Church at 723 St. Louis Road. It will open at 7 p.m. on any night where the low temperature is 20F or below, so it has not opened for the season quite yet. Its most recent Facebook post was Feb. 20.
Alton has an overnight warming center that’s already seen some use. It opened Nov. 30 and is located at Deliverance Temple, 1125 East Sixth St., where “Warmer Together” is in progress.

EDWARDSVILLE While the administrative and community service (ACS) committee voted in favor of the return of the Busey Bank Edwardsville Criterium for Aug. 21, 2021, that was not the big news.
