The Maine Turnpike Authority says preliminary numbers from the long Memorial Day weekend show that traffic was close to pre-pandemic levels. Turnpike officials said there were approximately 940,000 transactions between Friday and Monday. That is an increase of 66.5% from 2020, when the pandemic forced travel restrictions and shutdowns. Traffic was only down 7.4% compared to 2019, when the Turnpike saw an all-time record number of transactions.

An 18-year-old woman has been charged with murder after the body of a 69-year old man was found in a North Carolina cemetery. Raleigh Police on Saturday night announced the arrest of Maria Elizabeth Pena-Echeverria. She has been charged with murder and is being held at the Wake County Detention Center. The Greenville County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was run over following a "road rage" incident Sunday night. According to deputies, the driver made the 911 call at around 11:20 p.m. after running over someone in the Exxon parking lot on North Highway 101. Two people were taken to a hospital after an ATV rollover crash Saturday in Roxbury. Maine State Police said the crash happened around 6:30 PM on Horseshoe Valley Road.
