The La Plaine Constituency has seen numerous investments from the Government of Dominica in various sectors as they move towards building a Dynamic Dominica.
The housing and education sector has benefitted from these investments, as well as other social programmes in the constituency.
While the Government’s ongoing housing revolution has already touched the La Plaine constituency, the Member of Parliament, Honourable Kent Edwards stated that there are still housing concern to be addressed in other parts of the area.
To date, over ten million dollars have been spent on housing in the La Plaine Constituency following the devastation of Hurricane Maria in 2017.
The Government of Dominica through the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investment has begun the implementation of the covid-19 vaccine rollout.
On Tuesday, February 8
th 2021, Dominica received 70,000 doses of the AstraZeneca from the Government of India in a bid to build immunity against the disease.
The vaccine implementation is the next phase in prevention measures and combating the disease.
Beginning today, Monday February 22
nd 2021 will commence vaccination of identified priority target groups at the seven health districts.
The vaccine will be administered at the Roseau Health Centre, the Grand Bay Health Centre, the St. Joseph Health Centre, the Castle Bruce Health Centre, the Wesley Health Centre, and the Portsmouth Health Centre.
COVID-19 VACCINES ARRIVE IN DOMINICA
An airplane carrying seventy thousand (70,000) doses of the AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccine landed in Dominica at approximately 7:35 pm on Tuesday, February 9 2021 as Dominica continues its fight against the covid-19 virus.
Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, along with the Acting Minister for Health, Wellness and New Health Investment, Hon. Kent Edwards, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dr. Kenneth Darroux and other Members of Cabinet welcomed 70,000 doses of the AstraZenca covid-19 vaccine to Dominica at the Douglas Charles Airport.
This vaccine is a grant donation from the Government of India and will assist the Government of Dominica in the roll out of its vaccination programme.
