GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Judge Christina Elmore in two weeks will make local history by becoming the first Black woman to oversee criminal and civil cases in Kent County Circuit Court.
Her recent appointment to the criminal/civil bench was announced by Kent County Chief Circuit Court Judge Mark A. Trusock.

WYOMING, Mich. A motorist who did not have a valid driver’s license is facing two felony charges stemming from a late November crash in which his speeding vehicle slammed into a Wyoming home and came to rest atop an elderly man.
Rescuers used heavy equipment to free the man, who was asleep when the vehicle plowed through an outside wall and came to rest atop his bed.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. The felony case against a northern Kent County man accused of killing his neighbor’s dog has moved to Kent County Circuit Court.
Matthew Clay Goldsmith, 43, is charged with animals – killing/torturing, a four-year felony.
He’s accused of killing a Siberian husky, which the owner says got loose last month and was shot after straying into Goldsmith’s yard.
