Vaccine hesitancy could stop or slow the US from reaching herd immunity, experts say. Americans who identify as Republicans are less likely to get a COVID-19 vaccine, prompting GOP lawmakers to address the issue in a public service announcement released this week. The video features a group of Republican members of Congress who are also doctors or other healthcare providers, some donning white coats, urging Americans to get vaccinated.

Younger People Hospitalized With COVID-19 in Michigan: Report

Surging case rates among younger people are leading to more of them being hospitalized, too. Older people are getting their vaccines first, and are less likely to socialize or work as the economy reopens. As COVID-19 cases continue to mount in Michigan, more younger people are being hospitalized with the virus, according to a report by The New York Times. On average, more than nine people a day aged under 18 were admitted to hospital with COVID-19 in the week to April 10. This is almost triple as many as in late February, according to state data.
