Sossion has brought this union to the lowest end, we want him out. This is a declaration that we are going to restore the union to its former glory, Mutai stated. [Collins Kweyu, Standard] Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion’s tenure at the helm now stands on shaky grounds after his friend-turned-foe Stanley Mutai managed to capture the Kericho branch post and immediately set his eyes on the SGs post. Mutai, scored 312 votes to beat Sossion s preferred candidate Anne Chepkoech, who garnered 294 votes in the hotly contested election in which Sossion unsuccessfully attempted to determine the office bearers. The election was held after the Labour and Relations court in Nakuru threw out a suit filed by Sossion which sought to bar Mutai and other branch officials from participating in the election over corruption allegations.

Speaking at Longisa trading centre in Bomet yesterday, the Kanu chairman said he would engage the relevant ministries to have the issues addressed once and for all. “Let s not speak about 2022 while we still have the issue of Mau at hand. I m here to assure you, the people will be assisted,” said Gideon after opening a Kanu office at Mulot Sunset. Gideon was in company of Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat William, MPs William Kamket (Tiaty), William Chepkut (Ainapkoi), Abdikarim Osman (Fafi), West Pokot County Assembly Speaker Catherine Mukenyang, Baringo Woman Rep Gladwell Cheruiyot and the Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary General and Nominated MP Wilson Sossion.
