Dry taps at State House?

The interruption is occasioned by the shutdown of water pumps at Uthiru and Dagoretti to facilitate an upgrade. The upgrade of the pumping stations situated at Kabete Water Works will see the two water pumps improved to pump additional 25,000 cubic metres of water to Karen, Riruta, Satellite, Kawangware and Uthiru areas among others. The shutdown will see water supply to areas served by the two pumps go without water for between Wednesday, February 3, 2021 and Thursday, February 4, 2021. Areas set to be affected by the water supply interruption include Riruta, Kawangware, Dagoretti Corner and Ngando; all along Naivasha Road. Installations and estates along Ngong’ Road including Kilimani, City Mortuary, Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Nairobi Hospital, Coptic Hospital, State House, Department of Defence Headquarters, Lavington, Kileleshwa and Kibera will also be affected.

Kenya Key Message Update: Rural food security deteriorates as livestock productivity and household food stocks decline, January 2021 Format Key Messages In the pastoral areas, declining forage and water resources are driving declines in livestock productivity, atypical migration to dryland grazing areas, and conflict over pasture and water sources. Milk production is below average except in Isiolo, Marsabit, and Garissa counties. Households are relying on income from still-above-average livestock sale prices and maintaining Stressed (IPC Phase 2) area-level outcomes; however, an increasing proportion of the population is expected to be facing Crisis (IPC Phase 3) outcomes. Dr Wasunna joined DNDi in 2003 and is the Director of the DNDi Africa regional Office. She has been supervising and leading DNDi’s activities in Eastern Africa since 2003. She is a founding member and former Chair of the Leishmaniasis East Africa Platform (LEAP), promoting clinical research for leishmaniasis and capacity building in the region. Dr Wasunna is a physician and an infectious disease and tropical medicine specialist. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Nairobi. Her postgraduate training in medicine was sponsored by WHO-TDR at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, where she obtained an MSc and a PhD in medicine and a diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the Royal College of Physicians of London. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, a member of the Kenya Medical Association and Kenya Association of Physicians.
