CANTON – Organizers of the Community Gun Buyback started collecting weapons a half-hour early when vehicles lined up Saturday morning outside the Canton Memorial Civic Center.
The event hosted by the Canton Police Department, Stark County Prosecutor s Office and several other community agencies also ended early about noon. A total of 129 unwanted guns were collected and will be destroyed, according to Christian Ball, director of public relations and community initiatives at the Prosecutor s Office. This likely won t be the last one that we hold, she said.
It was the first gun buyback in Canton since the 1990s. People who volunteered to turn in guns were given a $100 gift card.

CANTON, Ga. - Canton police said a war of words between a pizzeria owner and an upset customer ended with that owner and his two adult children behind bars. Police said an attack on that customer landed him with serious facial injuries.
Louis Perrota and his two sons, 23-year-old Anthony and 18-year-old Vincent are facing battery charges. This after police said the trio assaulted a customer last week at the family-owned business, Perrotta s Pizza The victim that he was pushed and shoved inside the restaurant and then punched outside the restaurant, said Officer Pacer Cordry, Canton Police Department.

CANTON Canton Police Department are searching for an individual they believe stole several items from the Canton Price Chopper and are asking for the public’s help with information in the case.
Police said that on Feb. 17, 2021, at approximately 3:22 p.m, the Canton Price Chopper reported that a number of items were taken from the store without being paid for including meat, cotton leggings (size XL), and several other items.
The Canton police are asking for the public s assistance in identifying the person of interest seen in the photograph above, as well as the black vehicle that the male entered the passenger side of and then left the parking lot.
