NRL 2021: Canterbury Bulldogs part ways with chief executive Andrew Hill

Advertisement Canterbury legend George Peponis has taken aim at the Bulldogs for axing good friend and chief executive Andrew Hill at short notice. The Sydney club, notorious for its boardroom dramas, is now without a CEO, head of football and head of commercial just two months out from the season. Bulldogs CEO Andrew Hill, centre, has been moved on. Peponis has worked with Hill in the past, including at the 2017 World Cup, and was disappointed – yet hardly surprised – a good man had been let go by the so-called ‘‘Family Club’’. Despite a club press release claiming Hill had resigned, Hill was told by chairman John Khoury late on Monday his services were no longer required. He inked an extension just last year and guided the club through one of its toughest periods in history.

Sir Steve or Mr Hansen? The phone call that got former All Blacks coach Sir Steve Hansen to NRL club

Hill recalled the story to SEN radio on Friday of how he invited Barrett to put forward some suggestions for experienced coaching figures for development opportunities for the club as it embarks on a rebuilding phase after the Bulldogs named Barrett as their new head coach from 2021 back in July. “He came back about 24 hours later and said ‘Hilly what do you think about Steve Hansen?’ and I said ‘yeah perfect, that’s the type of bloke we want but let me know who you think we can get and I’ll work on it.’ He said ‘well do you want his home or his mobile number?’

Q&A with NRL player turned coach Steve Georgallis

Steve Georgallis has around four decades worth of experience with rugby league. Georgallis spent hours playing with his mates at the local park as a young boy before making his way up to the NRL playing mostly with the Eastern Suburbs Roosters and Western Suburbs Magpies. These days he holds a colourful career in coaching having looked after the Penrith Panthers, West Tigers and the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs to name a few. The newly appointed North Queensland Cowboys assistant coach talks to Neos Kosmos about his hopes to lead Greece’s national team to victory and keeping his cool during matches.
