A border wall barricade has been erected around Seattle s Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP) after the city vowed to push ahead with plans to clear the encampment.
The self-declared autonomous zone was established by racial justice protesters in the summer and has been at the center of an ongoing dispute between residents, businesses, police and Seattle lawmakers.
Photos shared on social media on Thursday showed the block surrounded by wooden pallets forming a makeshift wall.

SEATTLE â A federal judge has summarily denied a request for an emergency temporary restraining order to stop Seattle police and park workers from clearing the hold-out remnants of a large homeless encampment at Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill.
U.S. District Judge Richard Jones said the plaintiff in the case, a Seattle resident named Ada Yeager who had been living at Cal Anderson, failed to prove that the removal of an encampment that has been at the park since June would violate the constitutional rights of those who had been living there.
According to declarations filed in the case, Yeager on Thursday had agreed to work with city officials to find housing, although her attorney, Braden Pence, said many of the issues in the lawsuit remained unresolved, including whether her property would be destroyed or stored in the interim.

As Seattle police readied to clear Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill Wednesday morning, protesters also lined the park where a tent encampment has grown over the past few months.
But the police did not sweep the camp as expected.
The city on Monday posted notices about its plan to sweep the park, which stated the park was not an authorized area for storage or shelter. The park has been officially closed for nearly six months following the creation of the Capitol Hill Organized Protest, or CHOP, this past summer.
