Police concerned over ongoing violence in Cape taxi sector

Cape Town - The Western Cape department of transport and police are struggling to quell taxi violence in the province as killings continue unabated, with the latest the killing of two taxi bosses and the injuring of two others.
The president of the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (Cata), Victor Wiwi and another taxi boss, Victor Sibusiso Msane, and two others were shot at the off-ramp of Borcherds Quarry, Nyanga, direction Cape Town at about 9.45pm on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk said according to reports Metro Police came across the vehicle standing next to the road. They stopped and found a 48 year-old man inside the silver Toyota Fortuner deceased, a 57-year-old man outside the vehicle injured, another 57-year-old man was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died due to injury sustained.

CAPE TOWN - One of the men that survived a shooting in which a Cape Town taxi boss was killed said it was difficult to make sense of the murder.
President of the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (CATA) Victor Wiwi was shot and killed in Nyanga on Wednesday night.
A second man, not affiliated to CATA, was also killed, while CATA general secretary Mandla Hermanus and a fourth person sustained minor injuries.

Gunning down of Cape taxi association boss and two others condemned

Cape Town - The gunning down of Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (Cata) president and two others in Nyanga, Cape Town have been condemned by the association.
Cata’s Victor Wiwi, 57, and two others were attacked by gunmen on Wednesday at about 9.45pm along the Borcherds Quarry off-ramp in Nyanga in the direction of Cape Town.
SAPS spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed the incident and said a double murder and attempted murder dockets have been opened for investigation.
He said that, according to reports, members attached to the metro police came across the vehicle, a silver Toyota Fortuner, standing at the side of the road.
